Seasons Holidays Whitbarrow Village News Roundup
Once again our trusty correspondent, Seasons Holidays Whitbarrow Village's General Manager Vaughan Kennedy, has come up with the goods and given us a 'sparkling' seasonal report on many Seasons members’ favourite resort, Whitbarrow Village in the gorgeous Lake District.
'Christmas and New Year at Whitbarrow was most certainly eventful to say the least. Our members arrived to a crisp white blanket of snow which in some areas had reached nearly three and a half feet deep! Thankfully, most of our members were very understanding especially when as a last resort, the local farmer was called to bring a gigantic piece of plant machinery, which cleared access for our guests within half an hour of him arriving.
'A week before Christmas, we started with 16 tons of salt which we keep at the resort, which was nearly depleted save for a ton or two a fortnight later. Most of our members who visited would agree that the in-house maintenance team did an outstanding job of keeping lodge paths and most of the resort clear during this time.
'New Years Eve went with a blast. Whitbarrow saw its largest turnout on this night since records began, with a beautiful buffet prepared by our chef Derek, and served efficiently by our catering staff. To compliment the evening, was a table magician, top class cabaret Lee Brady, with the evening’s music being provided by our DJ, Simon Jay.
'And as promised, on the 4th January 2010, the refurbishments started on four of our most troublesome units – The Martindales. These have been stripped completely back to the brick with new central heating, hot water, furniture and soft furniture, in fact pretty much everything. As mentioned in the last e-news, Martindales 1 and 2 are now one unit and in 3 and 4, the mezzanine levels have now been completely reopened to allow for the removal of those dreaded bunk beds.
'We estimate that Barry Hurley (Seasons Chairman) will come and view the new works and hopefully allow us to continue the refurbishments throughout, with completion of all 36 of our traditional lodges in and around 18 months or so from now.
'Of course in the meantime, our maintenance team are also internally redecorating the Kirkstone Lodges as part of an ongoing raising of our standard and the assurance to our members of the ongoing commitment from Seasons Holidays to provide an unparalleled standard of holiday and an excellence of service to our customers. We will of course keep you updated as to the progress of these refurbishments.'
