Brunston Castle

Situated in 25 acres of landscaped grounds in the serene Girvan Valley, only five miles away from the picturesque Ayrshire coast, Brunston Castle resort is an ideal base for exploring the west of Scotland.

Brunston Castle is located in a charming area of Scotland offering serenity and seclusion set amongst outstanding scenery. The area is notorious for its history and benefits from a surprisingly mild climate all year round.

The Ayrshire coastline and landscape are stunning in themselves, along with a multitude of well-known places of interest, family attractions and fascinating historical sites.

Brunston Castle is approximately an hour's drive from Glasgow airport, and the nearest town is Girvan, with its secluded yet vibrant harbour only six miles away. Girvan beach is a large white sandy beach suitable for families.

South Ayrshire offers a variety of visitor attractions and is an ideal base for exploring the villages and countryside of the surrounding area. Just a short drive away is the Galloway Forest Park, Loch Doon Castle, Culzean Castle and many more interesting attractions.

The Resort

The resort and golf course are named after the original 16th century Brunston Castle, but all that is left of it today is a small ruined tower house in the heart of the golf course.

The 25 acre resort includes a combination of two, three and four bedroom holiday homes. The spacious, comfortable lodges are attractively situated in landscaped sylvan setting in the stunning Girvan Valley. The private leisure centre and grounds offer a wide range of amenities keeping every visitor to Brunston Castle entertained.

Accommodation

Each of the specially designed holiday homes has been carefully located within the grounds to suit its natural settings. The patio doors open out to the spacious verandas offering spectacular views of the surrounding area.

All units are heated and double-glazed throughout, for maximum year-round comfort and as with all Seasons resorts, they are furnished with every necessity for self-catering. This includes linen, duvets, towels, hairdryer, crockery, cutlery, glassware,

cookware, fully equipped kitchen with hob, combination microwave, dishwasher, DVD Player, Freeview TV and mini hi-fi.

Area

Just offshore from the Girvan coast lies the island of Ailsa Craig, a remarkable landmark in the Firth of Clyde. The island is located approximately ten miles west of Girvan. 1,114ft high and two miles in circumference, the island consists entirely of volcanic rock of an extinct volcano, possibly active 500 million years ago. Now more than 10,000 pairs of gannets breed every summer, along with colonies of razorbills, guillemots and kittiwakes.

Ayrshire offers some magnificent walks and cycle paths through countryside and coastal areas, as well as an array of outdoor pursuits and activities, including horse riding, swimming, golf, bird watching, sea and game fishing.

Ayr, Scotland’s major west coast resort lies 16 miles north of Brunston Castle. Ayr is located in the heart of Burns Country, with its two and a half miles of sandy beaches and leafy suburbs, is a popular seaside resort offering a variety of seaside amusements, public parks and scenic riverside walks.

Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet, was born in Alloway, on the outskirts of the town; visitors can visit to his birthplace, Burns Cottage and also the Tam O'Shanter Experience.

Further north of Ayr is Ardrossan, where ferries run to the Isle of Arran, 12 mIles away. The Isle of Arran has an astonishing variety of landscapes and seascapes, complemented by a rugged and mountainous interior in the north and green rolling hills and woodland in the south.

Ayrshire also has an abundance of castles to explore, from the impressive Culzean Castle in its amazing cliff top setting. This architectural work of genius was designed by Robert Adam and finished for the 10th Earl of Cassillis in 1790. The National Trust for Scotland now own the castle and, it is open to the public from April to October.

Here in Ayrshire, you are in the heart of the ancient Kingdom of Carrick, dating back into the mists of time. The title 'Earl of Carrick' dates back to 1225 and the current day possessor is none other than Prince Charles!
