Wedding Bells at Seasons Holidays Brunston Castle

Resort:

Popular resort manager Norma Docherty is well known for going out of her way to be helpful to guests, but she excelled herself when Christine & David Watson of Hockley, Essex, phoned and asked for her assistance. Christine explained that they were coming on holiday to Brunston but her daughter Emma had said she wanted to get married when she was there and had only given her a few months notice! That’s when Norma sent lots of wedding details, such as florist, hairdressers, golf course and so on. No wonder they received the following lovely thank you letter.

‘We have just returned from a fantastic week at Brunston Castle. Memorable for all the right reasons and in more ways than one. We had beautiful scenery, which we viewed from the windows of the lodges that became a stunning backdrop for our daughter’s wedding, which we held at Brunston Castle Golf Club on 9th September!

Having arranged the wedding completely through the internet and on the telephone with Norma Docherty and her staff, it was with some trepidation that the family travelled up the driveway towards the Seasons resort. The only images we had were those that we had seen in the brochure and those that had been sent, so it was with some relief that the breathtaking scene of the hills being shrouded in the evening mist and the glorious sunset greeted us.

The weather was much better than we expected but it did rain heavily the day before the wedding. However, in the morning the sun was shining, almost as if Norma had ordered it for us and the day went without a hitch. The Reverend John Gillies, who performed a moving ceremony, was the village ex-policeman and had some very interesting tales to tell us. The food the golf club put on was fantastic and in the evening, a wonderful singer/guitarist performed. It seemed like nothing was too much trouble and everything exceeded our expectations.

Apart from the wedding, we had day trips out. The views driving along the road to Barr are absolutely stunning, especially the waterfall that cascades down the valley. Also Culzean Castle (beautiful grounds and sea views, we even saw seals), a shopping trip up to Glasgow, the beaches at Girvan and Ayr, and even on the days it did rain, we managed to take the children swimming and puddle jumping. We spotted hare, sheep and cows on the hills and at dusk, the rooks came over in their hundreds to roost - what a sight! We heard an owl hooting and a hedgehog 'knocked' on our front door, which amused us all. Many thanks to everyone at Seasons for a brilliant holiday and our family would recommend Brunston Castle, both as a holiday destination and a wedding venue.’
