Whitbarrow Village

Set in the peaceful foothills of Blencathra Fell (known as "Saddleback"), Whitbarrow Village is one of the Lake District's most popular and picturesque resorts with the local people and surroundings giving you a very warm welcome. The luxurious accommodation, facilities and staff make for a perfect family holiday.

In 1986 the original owners retained the unique character of what was originally an 18th Century Cumbrian farm known as Whitbarrow Hall.

Since then the resort has grown to 129 apartments as more of the original farm buildings have been carefully restored and converted.

The cobbled street that runs between the converted stone farm buildings is overlooked by the clock tower, with paths leading off through charming archways to flower-decked courtyards each with its own unique lawned area.

The Resort

The calm rural setting and stunning views make sure that the historic charm remains for visitors to enjoy. Thanks to the age of the original buildings, each apartment has a character all of it's own.

Around the charming resort of Whitbarrow Village, you'll find every convenience and facility for your family entertainment while on holiday so you and your family will find it hard to be short of activities during your stay.

The resort boasts a fully equipped Leisure Club, heated swimming pool with spa bath, sauna, steam room, pool table, fully equipped gym, table tennis, 18 hole crazy golf, 9 hole putting green, giant draughts/chess board.

Why not relax and unwind with the Vassa Holistic Therapy centre with a range of treatments and massages.

Horse-riding, archery, fishing, fell walking, quad biking, mountain biking, climbing, abseiling and canoeing

can all be arranged at the Reception.

Accommodation

Whitbarrow hosts a mix of four apartment types - studio, one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom - all come complete with every modern comfort.

Many apartments feature natural stone walls and ancient oak beams, and in one, two and three bedroom apartments, comfortable bed settees convert to provide extra sleeping space.

Whitbarrow Village apartments are equipped with every requirement for self-catering, including linen, towels, crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, fully fitted kitchens and appliances. Teletext Freeview televisions, DVD players and a DVD library, double glazing and heating.

The Area

The Lake District has been a favourite for families for years and remains one of the U.K.’s most popular holiday destinations.
One of the most stunning national parks in the U.K., the Lake District is made up of a series of over 80 glacial lakes, mountain tarns and several reservoirs.

Most of the lake names end in either water or mere. The latter refers to a lake that is broad in relation to its depth. A tarn is used to refer to any small lake although it originally meant a form of glacial mountain lake.

Whitbarrow Village is ideally located in the stunning Lake District midway between Penrith and Keswick, the resort offers the ideal base from which to explore the wonders of this superb area.

Within 45 minutes of Whitbarrow you can enjoy anything from water-skiing and sailing at Windermere to quad biking and horse riding at Rookin House Farm.

For a brilliant family day out why not visit the Rheged Centre, “Cumbria’s leading family day out”, less than 15 minutes away.
